In the United States, a person or vehicle is hit by a train roughly every three hours (Federal Railroad Administration). Injuries and fatalities that occur at highway-rail crossings or on railroad property are often preventable.

MnDOT Rail Safety and Education
The MnDOT Office of Freight and Commercial Vehicles Operations Rail Administration Section monitors the safety performance of more than 4,000 rail-grade crossings along Minnesota’s public road system and develops the department’s Railroad Highway Grade Crossing Safety Improvement Program.

Operation Lifesaver
Operation Lifesaver is a nonprofit public safety education and awareness organization dedicated to reducing collisions, fatalities and injuries at highway-rail crossings and trespassing on or near railroad tracks.
